BRIGHTSMITH was founded by principals Chris Crean and Jeff Macaluso, with decades of experience across the entertainment and sports media landscape, including Warner Bros. Discovery, NBC Sports, Comcast, MotorTrend, Velocity Channel, Hagerty, Hearst Autos, and Brenton Productions.
We understand how real deals get done. We've negotiated rights agreements, managed live-event sponsorships, produced content for major networks, and built the kind of long-term brand relationships that actually move business.

Chris has spent more than 20 years at the forefront of every major shift in media, from the peak of cable and digital to the rise of social, branded content, and the creator economy. His career spans some of the most recognized names in media, including Discovery, MotorTrend, AETN, Hagerty, and Hearst, where he built the kind of long- term sponsor relationships that deliver lasting value.
Chris believes in storytelling and specializes in turning content into revenue and turning sponsors into strategic partners. He understands the gap that defines this moment in media: linear ad models losing ground, creator potential going untapped, and audiences that want stories over sales pitches. That gap is exactly where BRIGHTSMITH operates.
At BRIGHTSMITH, Chris works with a select roster of automotive and enthusiast creators, helping brands show up naturally inside the content, communities, and conversations their audiences already trust. He keeps a close eye on the rapid evolution of the creator economy because today’s audiences want more than content. They crave community and connection. Jeff Macaluso
Jeff has built his career across broadcast, cable, and streaming, with experience spanning production, programming strategy, and brand-supported content. At NBC Sports and Comcast, he developed and programmed enthusiast-driven content and acquired and managed multimillion-dollar sports properties at the national level.
He brings a deep understanding of how content, distribution, and monetization come together, with a focus on structuring partnerships that work in the real world. Jeff has negotiated complex deals, managed significant budgets, and built a network that spans creators, brands, and media companies across the industry.
He focuses on building partnerships that align with how audiences actually engage today, where authenticity, integration, and long-term value matter more than traditional advertising approaches.
